It is sometimes very important to take a look deep inside a sewer line prior to doing any repair work.  Tiny waterproof cameras are pushed through the sewer line to find and diagnose the “problem” and help determine what type of repair will be necessary.  
Sometimes also items can be “lost” down a sewer pipe or drain.  This is a tool that can help find the missing object.
